28 April Lucca

We had a good look around the other big city in Tuscany (well one of...) Lucca - that still has a lot of the original mediaeval wall surrounding it intact. Great walk and we thought it was more interesting than Pisa.
And of course first opportunity to sample real Italian gelati (ice cream) Yum.

May Hols 2009 - Pisa

First activity after a rest day (it was about a 14 hour drive down due to roadworks in Germany and an hour delay at the Gotthard tunnel in Switzerland) was to visit Pisa.

A free car park on the outskirts of town and about a 15-20 min walk bought us here - the Campo dei Miracoli with the 3 amazing buildings - the Baptistry (the domed bldg) the Cathedral and of course the Leaning Tower of...(which is actually the Belfry for the Cathedral)
Here you can see that it really does have quite a lean...
3 mischeivous looking types...

CHris & Livio (Exchange guest from Italy)

Last week we hosted an exchange student from Italy (well Sicily to be exact). Livio and Chris were busy the whole week with a drama festival in Tilburg - but the still found time to try out the trampoline.

This is Livio and his twin bro who was also along for the trip
